In many cities, including Alicante, there are typically different parking zones with varying regulations and costs. These zones may include:
- Underground or Covered Parking: Alicante may also have paid parking garages or covered parking areas. These are often more secure and convenient but come with a cost.
- Blue/orange Zones (Zona Azul): These are areas where you are required to pay for parking during certain hours. You usually purchase a parking ticket from a nearby machine and display it on your dashboard.
- Residential Zones: Some areas may have restrictions on parking for non-residents. Residents may have permits allowing them to park in these zones.
- Free Parking Zones: There may be areas where parking is free, but availability can vary, and these areas might be a bit farther from the city center.
For most of the underground parkings and parking on the paid street areas there is an official app available which will reduce your cost and make the experience much more convininet, here are the links for the different platforms: Movilpick (https://www.moviltik.es/)

Underground or Covered Parking

Alicante is not generally an unsafe city, but car thefts do occur, depending on the type of car you have and what is visible inside. In general, nothing should happen, especially in the central area where the apartment is located. If you want peace of mind and prefer to leave your car in a closed and monitored parking lot, you have several options just a few meters from the apartment.

Blue/orange Zones (Zona Azul)
These are zones where parking payment is mandatory during specific hours (typically from 9:00 to 20:00, with a brief hiatus between 13:00-14:00). It’s advisable to refer to the vertical signs for precise details. The maximum parking duration ranges from 2 to 5 hours, contingent on the area, but it’s easily extendable through the designated app. Normally, you acquire a parking ticket from a nearby machine and exhibit it on your dashboard, or alternatively, employ the mentioned app at https://www.moviltik.es/.
The differences between blue and orange zones are the price and max length of parking.

Free Parking Zones
Alicante is not generally an unsafe city, but car thefts do occur, depending on the type of car you have and what is visible inside. In general, nothing should happen, especially in the central area where the apartment is located. If you want peace of mind and prefer to leave your car in a closed and monitored parking lot, as mentioned above, you have several options just a few meters from the apartment.

Parking in the vast majority of streets inside the blue zone is time-based paid parking (ORA). Some may not be, but it’s usually very difficult to find free spaces. Outside the rectangle, it’s the opposite—most streets are free, and the neighborhoods are safe. The areas closest to the outside of the zone, above and to the left, are a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment.
